Review an AI chapter before accepting it
A practical editing checklist for structure, continuity and prose after chapter generation.
Updated
1. Check the scene against the outline
Identify the scene goal, obstacle and consequence. Compare these with the chapter outline. If an AI draft solves the conflict too early, ask for a revision that preserves the intended obstacle. Be specific about what to retain: “Keep the missed ferry and the argument, but reveal the missing chart only in the final scene.”
2. Check continuity before polishing
Verify names, timeline, location, item ownership and what each character knows. Compare doubtful statements with the source chapter rather than relying on an AI score. InStory exposes outline analysis and suggestion workflows, but feedback is an aid to review. A favorable assessment does not establish factual accuracy or story coherence.
3. Edit voice and keep a reviewed version
Read dialogue aloud, remove repeated explanations and check that the narrator uses a consistent point of view. Preserve passages you want unchanged when requesting revisions. Review the result again before saving it as the version you will build on. Check originality and any third-party material yourself; generation does not guarantee uniqueness or publishing rights.
